Overview – Open Construction Information
ManagementCurrent quantity take-off processes are highly inefficient. They are produced manually from the 2D drawings and the process is done multiple times during a construction project. Results cannot be utilized in other applications, like scheduling and procurement. As a result resources are wasted and the quality of the information is poor.
Tocoman Quantity Management solution addresses these issues. It enables a transition from the current drawing based process into a model based information management process.
The heart of this open system is the Tocoman Construction BIM Web Server. Tocoman iLinks™ collect BIM information relevant to construction directly from BIM design tools and push that information to the server, where it is integrated, managed, and made available to all downstream construction planning and management applications. The result is building model based construction with fewer errors, improved efficiency, and increased profits.
Tocoman Construction
BIM Server™Tocoman Server is an application which runs behind the scenes. It has a user interface for administrative tasks, but normal users do not see it. Tocoman Server is typically maintained and operated by the company's IT personnel. Its role is to store and distribute quantity information through the internet to those who need it.
Cost estimates and schedules are based on quantities produced with Tocoman iLink directly from the designer's building model.

Producing large amounts of quantity and cost data won´t help you if cannot efficiently deliver that information to those who need it. Tocoman Server solves this problem by using the most advanced technology available to the market.
· The project team has always up-to-date quantity information available e.g. for their cost estimates and project schedules
· Production databases (e.g. unit prices and productivity rates) may be managed centrally and the information distributed in real-time
· The server's system parameters may be configured to fine tune your building model based processes
· User access to information may be managed instead of emailing the information to those that need it
Tocoman Server integrates the user's desktop applications into a real time construction management solution. Data is accessible for each application independent of time and place.
· Access quantity information through the internet
· Based on standard SOAP and XML technology
· Supports secure communication with client applications
· Efficient data exchange enables even mobile communication
· Integrated with Microsoft Active Directory
· Role based user management system
· Separate SDK for developing your own client applications
· Support for almost any client technology available today
Tocoman
iLinks for ADT®, ArchiCAD®, and Tekla®Tocoman iLink is an easy-to-use add-on for building modeling applications. It is intended for extracting quantity information from the model and is typically used by either the designer or professional quantity surveyor. It also enables some model validation checks so that users can be confident in the reported quantities.

Tocoman iLink has already proven its benefits in residential, office, commercial and industrial construction projects. We are developing new ways to utilize the application to solve real problems in the construction process every day. iLink has proven to offer the following benefits;
· Provides more reliable and accurate quantity information for multiple purposes such as cost estimating or scheduling
· Focuses on value added tasks instead of measuring quantities manually again and again
· Compares alternative building models to find the optimal solution during the conceptual design phase
· Automates quantity take-off, cost estimating and scheduling in design & build projects
· Controls the subcontracts by tracking the progress at the site into the building model
Tocoman iLink's features have been tested and optimized in over 250 construction projects where building models were used for quantity take-offs. Our aim has been to create the most reliable, flexible and user friendly quantity take-off tool. Some of these iLink features include:
· Supports multiple building modeling applications
· Multiple calculations from a single building model
· Detects changes between building model versions
· Checks status of the quantity take-off numerically and visually
· Groups building model objects flexibly for quantity take-off
· Powerful wizard to automate the object grouping
· 3D visualization of the object groups
· Import production recipes from an internet based library
· Links object groups to multiple production recipes
· Multiple linking modes to be used in different project phases
· Calculates quantities by location (e.g. section and floor)
· 3D visualization of the quantities
· Stores quantities into local files (e.g. Microsoft Excel)
· Shares quantities with the project team through the internet
